Webinar – The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA): Opportunities for All
June 27, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm EDT
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) builds on the legacy of the original Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, which sought to ensure that all students have access to equitable educational opportunities. Please join us on June 27 between 2:00 and 3:30 pm for an interactive webinar discussion about ways in which state, district, and school leaders can leverage ESSA to continue to pursue the foundational goal of educational equity. During this webinar, Karmen Rouland, Center for Education Equity at the Mid-Atlantic Equity Consortium, and Caitlin Howley, Appalachia Regional Comprehensive Center, will share a data-driven and outcome-based equity framework, examine key ESSA equity provisions, and discuss examples of best practices underway across states and districts. Webinar presenters also include Beth Olanoff, Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), who will discuss strategies her state is using to emphasize indicators of growth in relation to equity, and Paul Fleming, Tennessee Department of Education, who will share a new resource to support school, district, and community leaders who are committed to providing and sustaining equitable outcomes for all students
