The California School Safety Toolkit (1st Edition)

Piloted in two California school districts–San Francisco and Vallejo City–during the 2015-16 school year, this toolkit builds from the school discipline guidance package jointly issued by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Education in 2014. It highlights the school safety research base and uses eight practical tools to take a holistic approach to assessing readiness to implement school safety best practices, school climate, discipline and achievement, student staff and family engagement, school policies, staff practices, allocation of resources, and community conditions.
