MAEC established the Center for Education Equity (CEE) to address issues in public schools stemming from segregation and inequities. As the Region I equity assistance center, CEE worked to improve and sustain the systemic capacity of public education to increase outcomes for students regardless of race, gender, religion, and national origin. CEE was funded by the US Department of Education under Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. As of August 2025, funding for our Equity Assistance Center grant has been restored, allowing us to continue providing our full range of services and support to schools, districts, and communities.
